"These set of three paintings are about my explorations in duality. InterLinked, Under my Skin, and Mirror & Shadow. I wanted to have the contrast of not just black and white but of the bright bubble gum pink with black. Of having something somber with something like gaiety. I wanted this to be about bringing out the shadow self and giving it its rightful place next to the brights.
Under my Skin is what would show if everything I am would come on to the surface of my skin. It is again about the shadow self - except the shadow self is not one compartmentalised thing, it runs across the many aspects of my self. I need to see it to see all of me. Maybe it is also the string that attaches me all together. Maybe it makes it far more interesting. If the black lines are the Shadow self, see how they meander, see how pale and uninteresting the painting would be. Mirror & Shadow is of course a play on my name and the fact that shadow does not appear in the mirror. But what if it could??"
